Its been a busy little week! Firstly my niece, freshly passed her driving test and with her own set of wheels, came round on Tuesday. Partly for a dog walk and mostly to show off "Cherie", her previously loved Mini. Is it slightly precocious with it's convertible roof? Yes. Is it the kind of car I'd have had at 19? Paint it yellow and hell yeah!
So after a long overdue catch up and hearing all about her test, we took Missy and Wee Ben to Murieston for a walk. My niece wants to make a thing of it this summer, and explore some cool places close to home, so expect to see more random walks!
Then on Wednesday my Inverness friend came down to visit (and go to a meeting in Edinburgh). Embracing her motto of the year - "If you want to do it, just do it", we decided to go ice skating the Wednesday evening at the Murrayfield Ice Rink. I had checked about the skating being available, so imagine our surprise when it turned out to be roller skating, not ice skating!
It makes sense to defrost the ice over the summer and still keep up revenue, but seeing as my friend had her ice skates and my roller skates were at home, we did have a good laugh about it and went ahead anyway.
We do plan on getting on the ice in September!
Thursday was election day, so we had to get the obligatory #DogsatPollingStations shot:
We also celebrated 4th of July with an American colleague who's been homesick of late. So good deed done with lots and lots of cake!
Friday was at a friend's to watch Bugsy Malone as part of the ongoing pilot series of what may or may not be a future podcast (basically a what do you mean you haven't seen type premise, do a ted talk about why it's amazing, watch it and see what everyone else thinks!) Bugsy was my suggestion and, despite not seeing it since Primary School, I still loved it.
Then it was Saturday. With mixed weather forecast and a friend to visit, we decided to check out the Colinton Station and Tunnel - Scotlands longest historical Mural! It was a suggestion of my niece's for a cool place to get photos and it did not disappoint!
On one side reads the text from Robert Louis Stevensons "From a Railway Carriage" whilst the other is illustrations of the poem. It's beautifully done! Missy didn't understand the fuss, but did enjoy the stroll around Spylaw Park afterwards. And the pub lunch!
Today has been lost to crafts as we are officially at con crunch. I've never styled a wig before so it was a daunting undertaking - but I'm happy with how it turned out!
It's been a fast week, you could say it's been...
Faster than fairies, faster than witches,
Bridges and houses, hedges and ditches....
Con crunch time! Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly!
ReplyDeleteAnd the photos from the mural look amazing!
