Armed Forces Day

It's hard to accept that we are half way through the year and that the schools have now broken up for thier holidays! Well, in Scotland at least.

It's been a busy run - work had me in Dundee on Wednesday and then an all employee Event in Murryfeild on Thursday. We had friends round Friday so by Saturday I wasn't sure if I had enough steam to push on with the weekend! However, I couldn't leave Maisie in the lurch, and so we trotted off to the Military Museum Scotland for the Bravehound Dog Show celebrating Armed Forces Day. Bravehound as a charity train dogs to help veterans with PTSD - a category my dad falls under, so I was more than happy to turn up and enter Missy into everything. My brother came along with Maisie and, to all our surprise, my older sister with my nephew and Wee Ben too.

My nephew wanted to organise plans for his upcoming birthday sleep over (he's very excited to dress up as Alucard from Hellsing) and I'm pleased to say that he is very happy with the plans of anime, the cosplay Con, more anime and board games. If only they were all this easy to look after!

Back to the show! I have been joking for a while now about my need to get more ribbons for Maisie (who has won one at the Dogwarts event) and Wee Ben (who hasn't won anything, ever.) Well, I think fate tried a little too hard - Missy placed 4th in Still game and 5th in Best Salute. Maisie placed 3rd in what is officially the best category ever - "my dog is the best dog ever but hasn't won a ribbon and I don't know why". And Wee Ben. He won 6 ribbonsranging from 3rd in Best Beard to 6th in Dog Judge Would Most Like To Take Home.

Talk about over achieving! We had a nice moment where we laughed and spoke about my sisters MIL who passed at the start of the year looking down in Wee Ben. And then we bumped into some of my dad's old army buddies (they're everywhere, I swear!) who could not belive how grown we where, seeing as I had barely cracked walking when they last saw me.

A good day with lots of banter.

So... Today was meant to be a solo adventure to the Jousting but after the week it's been, I gave up and stayed home and gave Missy all the  cuddles on the sofa whilst I finished the hand sewing on my costume for the cosplay convention. It was definitely the right choice, softened by the fact that I will be doing the Jousting at the end of July with a friend, so I'm not missingit this year.

Looking at the calander, it's busy season, so I'll keep you updated as and when I can! Enjoy the summer and I'll write soon.
