Thinking of Time

It's been a very quick weekend. I mean, really, it's been a very quick year when I think of it. It's been an odd week thinking about time really.

Friday was a funeral. That's the second this year and, whilst the first was very sad, at 92, my sisters MIL had had good inniggs. A life lived. On Friday it was the wife of my husbands magic mentor who I had always thought of as older. Listening to the eulogy, it struck me with horror that she was barely six months older than my mother and her eldest child a year younger than myself.
It was a really tough funeral. For so many many reasons.

I wasn't giventime to mope as we had a very last minute visit from my sister and her family - nothing like a joyful 6 and 10 year old to get you thinking of life again.

Saturday we had a morning of arts and crafts making delightful felt bees for the window and then the afternoon was spent at the Military Museum Scotland - always a lovely way to spend a few hours.
I have a big project given to me by my dad and managed to get some good resources on tactical recognition badges, of which my dad had given me hundreds to organise. Literally hundreds of the things!

Sunday we went to comicon in the morning - a small version had landed at the centre for the weekend and, whilst it was mostly just stalls, there was some professional characters about and a decent handful of folk dressed up. So for those wondering, yes, my Hera finally got a debut!

I certainly turned a few heads with my head tails, and my sister had to get very creative with my hairstyle underneath said head tails, but I successfully managed to get out and about with it on and the didn't fall off, even with the high winds.
My neice and nephew (Kylo Ren and  Storm Trooper respectively) had great fun arresting me, although clearly we're too fond of thier Aunty to call me "Rebel Scum" despite my encouragement. We did have an encounter with some storm troopers who told me that, whilst he appreciated the effort I had clearly put in, my score card was most definitely going to be marked as "try darker". My neice and nephew got glowing A+ reviews!

And then it was off to mums for dinner and that was the weekend all done.

Safe to say we're all worn out, but in that good way you get when family have come and gone too quickly for you. So despite the sombre start, it turned into a good weekend after all.

Till next time, hold those you love dearest a little tighter for me.
